DuPage Dems Difference Makers – DPDC Events Team
Events team members are DPDC members, are not PCs (with one exception), and they come from all over DuPage County. They use their considerable talents to do this hard work because they care about electing Democrats. Thank you to Paul Adams, Susan Steinmiller, Carol Redell, Carol Anthony, Helene Lamarre, and Joanne Tyree.
The Events team came together in the early spring of 2017. This small but mighty group of volunteers does all of the planning and management of the major fundraising events for the DPDC. They have been the force behind the successes of the annual Gala, the Holiday Party, the Golf Outing, and the annual Picnic. Together, and with help from other volunteers at the events, they have raised more than $100K to fund the activities of the DPDC over the past two years.
When the group formed back in 2017, they felt strongly that DPDC events should reflect one of our core Democratic shared values – that we take care of each other and help those less fortunate. At each of our Holiday Parties, we have sponsored one of more local charities, collecting donations and needed items from guests at the events. Past recipients have been Family Shelter Services, Dupage PADS, and Metropolitan Family Servies. The team is working now to choose a charitable partner for the 2019 Holiday Party.
Several months ago, the Events Team surveyed DPDC members to gather information about additional events that might be of interest to the members. They received great input and are working on ideas to create more events at different price levels that provide more opportunities for Democrats to participate, meet and mingle, learn about topical issues, and to support the DPDC.
This great group of volunteers is always looking for new members who want to help create events, raise money, and have fun while doing it. Let us know if you have some time and talents to share and would like to get involved!
Thank you again to Paul Adams, Susan Steinmiller, Carol Redell, Carol Anthony, Helene Lamarre, and Joanne Tyree.
