There may be no better current showcase for the power of social media than the #GrabYourWallet campaign.
The hashtag movement, which began in October 2016, calls for boycott of companies allegedly associated with President Donald Trump. The campaign features a list of around 50 businesses that should be boycotted for selling Trump products or having relationships with the president.
Marketing strategist Shannon Coulter began #GrabYourWallet when she called for a boycott of Ivanka Trump’s clothing line last year. And it’s proven to be a success, causing several companies to distance themselves from Trump products.
That list includes Nordstrom, which stopped buying Ivanka Trump’s line, Belk department stores, Neiman Marcus and T.J. Maxx/Marshalls. More recently Sears and Kmart joined the group of companies by no longer selling Trump Home products.
Burlington has no followed suit, removing Ivanka Trump’s clothing from its website.
